Aussie charged $40k for dinner

A napping passenger in transit from south to north Vietnam was awoken by a stinging pain in his right leg on June 10. When he looked down he found a hand yanking on his leg hairs. “I was on a plane from Hanoi to Saigon when I felt a stinging pain on my leg,” passenger Christian Ochoa said. “I was asleep and it happened to wake me up. I look and see this kid pulling my leg hairs. AN AUSTRALIAN tourist has been overcharged to the tune of $40,000 by a restaurant in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, local media reports.

The restaurant manager, Tran Tuan Minh, 22, is facing charges of appropriating property after charging $39,544 to the Australian visitor’s credit card, for a meal worth around $1146, the VN Express news site reports.

The arrest stems from a meal last August at the Nightfall restaurant.
