IF YOU’RE a regular at McDonald’s, you probably think you know a lot about the restaurant chain.

But from the secret franchise owner to the history of the golden arches, these little-known facts could come as a bit of a surprise …

The Queen owns a retail park in Slough, near Windsor Castle, making her the franchise owner of the drive-thru McDonald’s on-site.

2. Calorie counter

When it comes to Macca’s, the salad isn’t always the healthy option.

Canada’s ‘Keep Calm Caesar On’ salad hit headlines last year because, at 730 calories and 53 grams of fat, it was officially worse than a Double Big Mac, at 680 cals and 38g fat.

3. Going for gold

The famous golden arches were not always M-shaped.

They were originally two separate semi circles, put at opposite ends of each restaurant to attract drivers’ attention…
