‘Dogs certainly make a home complete’


LESS than two weeks ago, Lucy the terrier was among a group of senior canines at the Hobart Dogs’ Home hoping someone would fall in love with her scruffy face and offer her a home.

Today, she is living with her new “brother” and “mum” in Glenorchy and quickly learning she gets a treat for learning new tricks like using the dog door at her new unit.

“She is doing really well,” her new owner Jan Wood said.

“Lucy has got a different look on her face than when she first arrived and often gives me a smile.

“She is not only company for me but company for my kelpie-cross Sheeba, and the two have hit it off.

“She has learnt to go through the dog door — with the help of a treat or two — and has a comfy bed.

“Dogs certainly make a home complete.”

There are many other dogs at the Hobart Dogs’ Home looking for a second chance to be part of a family unit.
