Drama at sea after boat catches fire

A BOAT carrying four people had to be towed back to shore after it caught alight off West Beach on Christmas Eve.

Emergency services were called to assist the boat, about 3km off West Beach, just after 10.30pm on Saturday after it caught fire.

The boat owner managed to put out the blaze using a fire bucket and extinguisher.

The fire damaged the boat’s engine, fuel line and electrical wiring.

No one was injured.

The boat was towed back to shore.
