Hanson backs Roberts over citizenship

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson says she can “hand on heart” assure voters Malcolm Roberts is not a dual citizen.

However, she appears to have contradicted her Senate colleague’s denial of ever having held UK citizenship.

And he has contradicted himself.

Senator Roberts, who was elected to represent Queensland in the Senate last year, wrote on Twitter in October 2016 he had “never held any citizenship other than Australian”.

In another October tweet he wrote: “I don’t have, and never have had, Indian citizenship.”

Senator Hanson wrote on Facebook she had witnessed Senator Roberts renouncing his UK citizenship before he became a candidate last year.

“I saw first hand his renouncement of UK citizenship before he became a candidate for the Senate,” she wrote, supporting his call for a review of all MPs’ citizenship status.
