Lamar ‘deaths made me an addict’

LAMAR Odom is opening up about all the people he’s lost throughout his life and how those deaths led him to cocaine addiction.

The former NBA player lost his mother, Cathy Mercer, to colon cancer when he was just 12 years old.

“I didn’t really know how bad [the cancer] was,” he said in a new interview with The Players’ Tribune, “She kind of kept it from me to protect me. I just remember that she went into the hospital for a while, and when I went to visit her, it seemed like she was getting … smaller. Like she was disappearing, you know what I mean?”

Odom, 37, said the day she passed away she was hardly recognisable and the cancer had “ravaged her body,” reports the New York Post.
