THE TV remake of one of Australia’s most iconic films is the show “the world really needs right now”, according to one of its main stars.

Madeleine Madden says the six-part Foxtel series Picnic At Hanging Rock is a “feminist” thriller that may be set a century ago but with “themes … still very much alive in society today”.

The 20-year-old actor has vowed to make the most of every moment leading up to the premiere — even though the reaction to a remake of a classic piece of art is always daunting.
