Predator warning after student approached


THE parents of a young Scotch College student offered a lift by a stranger say he immediately felt something was wrong when the man repeatedly tried to lure him into his car.

James and Michelle, who do not want their surname used, have spoken out to alert other families after their son was approached as he walked home from the bus stop in the rain on Wednesday.

It was 4.30pm on Empire Avenue in Wembley Downs.

The 12-year-old told police the man was persistent, asking him three times to get into his car and using the rain as an excuse.

“He kept moving forward, meaning my son had to keep moving back to avoid contact and tried to encourage my son to get in the car with him,” Michelle said.

“You sit there and think, oh my goodness, I could’ve lost him.

“This man is still out there. Anyone who does see anything… it’s vital they step up and contact… the police.”
