Raceday focus: Echuca

Horse Racing: Winx has won her first barrier trial this morning at Randwick Race course.

Katelyn Mallyon will get back to business at Echuca after taking a break in Europe.

THE return to riding of top jockeys Regan Bayliss and Katelyn Mallyon headlines the 10-race card Echuca on Thursday.

Neither has ridden since May, Bayliss sidelined because of a fractured wrist and Mallyon on a Europe trip. Both rode their first Group 1 winners in March, Bayliss winning the Newmarket Handicap on Redkirk Warrior and Mallyon the William Reid Stakes on Silent Sedition.

SUPER TRIAL: OSCIETRA QUICK TO IMPRESS

Bayliss has six rides on Thursday and Mallyon has four.

The most interesting races on the program will be the two divisions of the two-year-old fillies maiden which contain a number of well-bred fillies from leading stables.

Chris Waller’s filly LA CHICA ROSA (R3, No. 5), who finished sixth in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes at her last start, is the $2 favourit…
