J.K. Rowling has finally answered a question that has plagued fans since the start of the hugely successful Harry Potter series: who is our favourite wizard named after?

As part of celebrations marking Harry Potter’s 20th anniversary — Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published in 1997 — Rowling has given her loyal fanbase another titbit to digest, revealing more information about Harry’s family tree.

Rowling explained on Pottermore Harry was named after his great-grandfather, who was called Henry in more formal environments. He often spoke on behalf of muggles (humans). She said this was the reason the Potter family were left out of the Sacred Twenty Eight — the list of 28 British families of pure magic blood.
