Rush to listen to musician’s genius

Dr G Yunupingu, the blind Indigenous singer, has died in a Darwin hospital aged 46.

Dr G Yunupingu’s albums have hit number one on the iTunes chart following his death on Tuesday.

His self-titled album sat at number one and The Gospel Album was at number seven on Thursday morning.

His debut self-titled album sold half a million copies worldwide when it was released in 2008 and won two ARIA awards.

It went triple platinum in Australia, silver in the UK and reached the charts in countries across the globe.

Dr G Yunupingu’s other ARIA award-winning albums Rrakala and The Gospel Album achieved international success and made him the highest selling indigenous artist in Australian history.
