Reigning Masters champion Sergio Garcia will be the headline act at the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast this year.

REIGNING US Masters champion Sergio Garcia will be the headline act at the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast this year.

The Spaniard had the sporting world cheering when he claimed the coveted green jacket at Augusta in his breakthrough major win.

He is the first star to be announced for the tournament that will be staged at the RACV Royal Pines Resort from November 30 to December 3.

Garcia last played in Australia in 2010 and is arguably the biggest name to play at the event since it moved to the Gold Coast in 2013.

“2017 has been exciting for me winning the Masters and I look forward to celebrating the end of the year at the Australian PGA Championship,” he said.

“It’s been a long time since I have visited Australia but I remember how welcoming the fans were and I have been trying to get back for some time now.”
