Treble puts Bowman in box seat for title

Horse Racing: Winx has won her first barrier trial this morning at Randwick Race course.

Brenton Avdulla kept his hopes alive in the title race with a win in Special Missile.

THE Sydney jockeys’ premiership is all but over after Hugh Bowman booted 2.5 wins clear of Brenton Avdulla with just one meeting to go after riding a treble at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Bowman rode the first two winners on the Canterbury program before Avdulla kept the premiership race alive when he scored aboard Special Missile in race four.

THURSDAY RACES: TAHSIN UP TO THE TASK

But Bowman hit back on Chatelard in race six and looks set to be crowned Sydney’s premier jockey for the fourth time with just one metropolitan meeting remaining.

Bowman paid tribute to his manager Bryan Haskins after bringing up his treble aboard Chatelard.
