JAMIE Whincup confirmed himself as one of the greatest drivers Supercars in history – again – by equalling Craig Lowndes’ record of most career victories with a stirring second-day win at the Townsville 400.

Whincup already has a long list of milestones on his stellar Supercars CV but the six-time champion added yet another by powering to his 105th career win on the Reid Park street circuit, drawing level with old foe Lowndes.

After debuting in 2006, Whincup has averaged a staggering nine wins every season but for the six-time champion, the win was an unusual drought-breaker for Red Bull Holden.
