A healthcare worker at a northern Sydney hospital has been diagnosed with COVID-19 after working a full shift in the emergency department.

The Hornsby Hospital staffer worked on August 6 from 11am to midnight while infectious, the Northern Sydney Local Health District said in a statement on Saturday night, but was wearing a mask at all times while in contact with patients.

The worker was asymptomatic at the time but became unwell after their shift.

Almost 270 Victorians have been fined for breaching coronavirus restrictions, including a man helping a friend to move a TV across Melbourne.
