Brisbane have defied more yips in front of goal to smash AFL ladder leaders Port Adelaide by 37 points and complete a perfect month at their Gabba fortress.

The Lions made their move in a sparkling second term which reaped six goals, but their dominant 12.13 (85) 6.12 (48) win on Saturday night would have been larger if not for more inaccuracy.

Gold Coast young guns Ben King and Izak Rankine have both missed potential match-winning chances as the Suns and Essendon played out an AFL draw.

King kicked a point from a set shot to level scores while Rankine couldn’t find a score inside the final minute from outside 50 as the match finished 11.7 (73) to 11.7 (73) at Metricon Stadium.

Western United beat Glory, make A-L finals – Australian Associated Press

Western United are set to play finals in their inaugural A-League season after beating Perth Glory 2-0 at Bankwest Stadium.

Besart Berisha opened the scoring in the 27th minute then secured his brace from the penalty spot in the 52nd.

The win puts Western into sixth place – level with Adelaide United on 36 points but with a vastly superior goal difference (+10 to -5).

Adelaide have played all their 26 games while Western have two games to come.
