Breaking the lowest oxygen abundance record.
New results achieved by combining big data captured by the Subaru Telescope and the power of machine learning have discovered a galaxy with an extremely low oxygen abundance of 1.6% solar abundance, breaking the previous record of the lowest oxygen abundance. The measured oxygen abundance suggests that most of the stars in this galaxy formed very recently.

NASA is doing some very cool things on and in orbit above Mars. One of the spacecraft orbiting the Red Planet is called MAVEN. Over the last couple of years, MAVEN made some observations of the Martian atmosphere in the ultraviolet spectrum and discovered something very cool. When the atmosphere is viewed in the ultraviolet spectrum, the sky has nightglow that pulses in a green color invisible to the naked eye.
The glow is only at night and only happens during certain Martian seasons. The pulsi…

TORONTO —The initially lunar eclipse ever noticed by the Hubble Area Telescope offers a shut-to-home illustration of how astronomers will glimpse for indicators of lifetime on Earth-like planets in far-absent photo voltaic programs.
Researchers with the European Space Agency (ESA) introduced Thursday that the spacefaring telescope was in a position to seize the ultraviolet spectral signature of Earth’s ozone layer during the January 2019 lunar eclipse by using the moon as a mirror to replicate…
