Collingwood president Eddie McGuire explains Jordan De Goey’s availability


Eddie McGuire says the AFL should debate the league’s response to criminal charges but he has defended Jordan De Goey’s continued availability for Collingwood.

Questions over De Goey’s presence in the team have hit the news this week in the wake of Sydney’s decision to stand down Elijah Taylor.

Taylor, 19, has been charged with assaulting an 18-year-old woman at a Perth hotel.

De Goey, meanwhile, is due to face court later this year after he was charged in July over an incident alleged to have taken place in 2015.

He has played two games since the charge was laid, most recently kicking four goals as he returned from injury in a win over Gold Coast on Monday night.

The 24-year-old remains available to play because the AFL does not…
