Qld election 2020 LIVE updates: Poll Call day sixteen

Referred to as an “inland freight route” by the Premier, the road would stretch from Charters Towers to the NSW border, however there have so far been no information on how much it will cost or the timeframe for its rollout.

The announcement could potentially overshadow the LNP’s signature campaign promise to “four-lane” the Bruce Highway from Gympie to Cairns, but the devil as always will be in the details, with both sides yesterday refusing to name exactly when they would release their election costings.

The LNP have also started today in Townsville, hoping to flip some marginal seats in the region.

It’s the second time back to Townsville for both camps, which underlines how important both of them feel about the seats in the area.
