Perth Scorchers’ finals chances are hanging by a thread after they lost to Adelaide Strikers by three-runs in a final over thriller at North Sydney Oval today.
Chasing 157 for victory, Perth were cruising early as openers Sophie Devine (57) and Beth Mooney (60) put on 118 for the opening wicket in the first 14 overs.
Devine’s dismissal triggered a top-order batting collapse as the Scorchers lost five wickets for 20 runs in the space of 18 balls, leaving Perth needing nine runs from the final over with Nicole Bolton (17) the only notable batter remaining.
Pace bowler Sarah Coyte delivered a tight over, going for just five runs to give Adelaide an all-important win.
Perth now must wait for the result of Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers…
