Fast food, monotony and modern machines could all be helping make truckies a bit less healthy these days. So free physical and mental health checks would be a welcome addition to keeping truckies safe on the road. Flowerdale-based Dean Edwards, who owns and operates his own trucking firm said free medical checks would be good for all truckies. “Especially a lot of owner-operators because that’s the last thing you worry about.” He was commenting on the checks being rolled out on the mainland. Pioneered by the Queensland Trucking Association, the checks are funded by the federal government.
