44 years ago, Ross Whyte kicked the winning goal for the Western Districts in the 1977 Queensland AFL grand final. Today he and his family and friends visited the Gabba, where the game was held, to relive the
momentous occasion.Ross was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017. To fulfil his last wish to revisit his glory days at the Gabba, Ambulance Wish Queensland – a program of Palliative Care Queensland Inc. supported by Queensland Health and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) – organised to play the game’s final minutes on the big screen.
