There have been 30 years of superannuation, yet we still have two-thirds of retiring Australians living on “some form of government welfare,” according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.
Her comments come as the federal budget is set to be released next week, with funding for aged care being brought into focus.
“Are we going to have a conversation in this country about what we can reasonably afford and what our priorities are and work back from that?” Ms Credlin said.
“The federal government, in particular, is the lender of last resort.
“You’re going to talk about people in tax brackets over 50 per cent of their incomes in this country, now that’s just not sustainable.”
