Four years ago today 🙌
On this day, in 2017, the Queensland Government delivered an apology to right an historical wrong. Homosexuality was a crime in Queensland until 1990. Hundreds of Queenslanders were charged with offences, profoundly impacting on their lives. The laws left a legacy of shame and stigma on our communities. The apology and the government’s bill to erase the criminal records was a significant step toward equality, but there is much more to do to ensure that LGBTIQ+ people can live free from discrimination, no matter who they are or whom they love.
