Prince Carl Philip is the only son and the second of three children of King Carl and Queen Silvia and
was heir apparent until the 1980 abolition of agnatic primogeniture. He met former model and
television star Sofia in 2010 and they were engaged four years later. To mark the occasion of their
marriage the couple founded Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s Foundation against bullying, a
cause meaningful to the dyslexic prince and his initially disfavoured bride.
