A woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a car while waiting at a bus stop north of Sydney.

The 28-year-old woman was waiting inside a bus shelter on Main Rd at Glendale, Newcastle, when a Holden Commodore sedan crashed into the shelter about 4pm on Friday.
