Political fundraising ‘been a trainwreck’ for decades

Political fundraising and election funding in Australia today casts a shadow over the integrity of the country’s democratic system.

An event called Dark Money launches on Wednesday and it aims to start the process of reform and stop any corruption across political parties.

Former Liberal Party treasurer Michael Yabsley told Sky News Australia the system has been a train wreck for decades.

“It’s lead to scandal after scandal and is a major reason why so many people are so unhappy with politicians,” he said.

“It is just time to put the broom through the whole system.”
