Religious discrimination bill divides | The Australian

The prime minister is preparing to personally introduce long-awaited religious freedom laws to parliament tomorrow.

The revised bill scraps a proposed law which would allow medical providers to refuse treatments based on religious beliefs.

The Folau clause is also gone, which would have banned employers from sacking staff for expressing religious views.

But a controversial statement of belief provision remains which would enable Australians to reasonably express religious views, all while being shielded from anti-discrimination laws.

It's attracted criticism from the Opposition and has the governments' own moderate MPs concerned.
