GT Communications' Gemma Tognini says a Coalition deal on net zero by 2050 is still a “work in progress”.

The Australian is reporting senior Nationals are threating to hold off from endorsing the prime minister's net zero plan until they have secured guarantees ambitious climate targets won’t damage regional economies.

“I feel like it’s a dysfunctional relationship that’s edging it’s way forward,” she said.

“The one position of grace I would give them is it’s such a seismic leap for these guys but also there are differing views around how to tackle these issues.”
