‘Investing in the future’: Hydrogen hubs will take NSW to the ‘next level’

NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole says the state’s multi-billion dollar investment into hydrogen hubs will take the state to the “next level”.

As part of its hydrogen strategy, $3 billion in grants is expected to be provided to producers with the state government expecting the industry to create $600 million in revenue every year.

“Today’s an exciting day because it actually shows the NSW government is investing in the future, investing in our kids, investing in jobs,” he told a media conference on Wednesday.

“But this is going to be exciting for regional NSW.

“What we’re seeing in regional NSW is special activation precincts that have been identified - this is the opportunity to create these hydrogen hubs, this is the opportunity to provide economic growth, the opportunity to provide jobs into our communities.

“This renewable energy, this hydrogen hub strategy that we are putting forward is going to see private investment and the opportunity to grow regional NSW.

“We’ve got places like Parkes, Wagga Wagga, Hay – they’ve been identified as renewable energy zones. We’ve already laid the platform, today’s hydrogen study is actually taking us to the next level.”
