No need to have climate policies ‘locked in now’

Regional Health Minister David Gillespie says Australia does not need climate policies “locked in now” as they may change in the next decade.

This comes as the Nationals are set to review Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s climate plan to get to net zero by 2050 this Sunday.

“We don’t need to have policies that could change ten times over in the space of 30 years locked in now; we’re always looking into the future,” Mr Gillespie told Sky News Australia.

“But we want to make that in this global rush to make extraordinary commitments without a detailed plan of how we’re actually going to do it, without disrupting our cities, our whole way of life, and regional Australia jobs.”
