Frydenberg: Victorians deserve their lives and freedoms back

Treasurer Josh Fydenberg has urged Premier Daniel Andrews to follow the lead of his New South Wales counterpart by giving Victorians their "lives and their freedoms back". Writing in the Herald Sun, Mr Frydenberg warned Victoria was "running behind" and said it must "shift gears and get back into the fast lane". The Treasurer also acknowledged Melbourne had gone from being one of the world's most liveable cities to the most locked down. The Victorian government announced it will relax its border with NSW from October 20, allowing fully vaccinated residents to travel without having to quarantine. However, Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley hit back at journalists when quizzed on the differences in COVID rules between the two states.
