PM vows to stand by regions amid net zero pitch

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has vowed to stand by the regions as he attempts to get the Nationals party room on board with his 2050 net zero emissions target. The Prime Minister has faced both domestic and international pressure to take firm action against climate change and is understood to be eager to take an action plan with him to the COP-26 climate summit later this month. Mr Morrison also warned Australia is at risk of being left behind if it does not have a confident plan as the rest of the world responds to the challenge of climate change. In an interview with The Weekend Australian, he claimed there had been a global shift, saying the debate had moved beyond an environmental imperative to an economic reality.
