Dan Andrews reveals date Victoria’s lockdown lifts

Premier Daniel Andrews has revealed Victoria’s lockdown will be lifted from Friday after the state reaches the 70 per cent double dose mark.

Mr Andrews announced the curfew and restrictions on leaving home will be scrapped from 11:59pm on Thursday as a result of the rapid vaccination uptake in the Victorian community.

“There will be no travel limit within metropolitan Melbourne,” he said.

“We had proposed a 25-kilometre limit, there will be no limit for travel across Melbourne.

“However, unless you are authorised to enter regional Victoria, you cannot enter regional Victoria at this time.”

Residents will be permitted to have 10 visitors, including dependants, to a home per day.

“We believe that is appropriate. It is, however, highly recommended that only vaccinated people above 12 should be visiting your home,” he said.

A staggered return of grade three to year 11 in metropolitan Melbourne will be brought forward to Friday, October 22, when the lockdown lifts.
