‘Victorians have so much to be proud of’: Sutton

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton says Victorians “have so much to be proud of” with record vaccination rates leading to an early lifting of the lockdown. It comes following the announcement the state’s lockdown will come to an end at 11:59pm on Thursday. “We are racing through that 70 per cent double dose mark to go to the 80 per cent at record rates, really, at this stage of vaccination coverage, faster than almost any other country in the world has done and we shouldn't stop there," he said. “We absolutely shouldn't stop there because of what it means for protecting our entire community, those most at risk, and what it means for the freedoms that we can enjoy and being able to not have to take backwards steps through the end of this year and into 2022. “We are heading for even better days ahead.”
