Australia’s policy is ‘set by cabinet’ not ‘overseas conventions’

Employment Minister Stuart Robert says Australia’s policy positions are “set by cabinet”, not by “overseas conventions”. 

The Coalition government is currently deciding on a climate change policy to take to the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, which Prime Minister Scott Morrison is attending after weeks of public hesitation.

“The timing and substance of all policy for the federal government is set by cabinet in a time-honoured way,” Mr Robert said of the deliberations. 

“Australians can have great confidence that any policy position the Coalition government arrives at has been sensibly thought through with proper policy, proper Westminster conventions and cabinet-level governance.”
