Berejikilian: Every financial decision made in public interest

Former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has defended her use of public money, saying all financial decisions were made in the interests of the state.

Asked by counsel assisting Scott Robertson whether she agreed public funds should be spent in the public interest, Ms Berejiklian replied: “Absolutely and can I stress, that every decision I have made has been in the interest of the public or the interest of the community or the interests of the Government”.

“I have lived my life by that every day that I have spent in public life.

“I have done so to the best of my ability, putting the public interest first, basing all of my decisions on what I regarded as an interest of the community, of the state, or the government, and I stand by that so strongly.”
