UK becomes first country to authorise ‘game changer’ COVID-19 pill

The UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said on Thursday it had authorised Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics’ oral antiviral, molnupiravir, to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults at risk for severe illness.
