A young Perth father is fighting for his life after he was assaulted on a night out in the waterfront area Hillarys.

Kairan Mahia, 29, is in an induced coma in ICU at Royal Perth Hospital after he was allegedly hit from behind in a coward punch attack on Sunday morning.
