WHO skips ‘Xi’ when naming new COVID variant ‘so they don’t embarrass a region’

The Daily Telegraph’s Tim Blair says the World Health Organisation has apparently skipped over the Greek letter ‘Xi’ when naming the Omicron variant of COVID “so they don’t embarrass a region”.

The WHO also skipped the Greek letter ‘Nu’ because they thought it would be confusing….
