Coalition ‘forcing’ Anthony Albanese to ‘play his hand now’

By giving the option to call an election in March of 2022, the Coalition is “forcing” Anthony Albanese to “play his hand now," according to former Liberal Party website editor Parnell Palme McGuinness. “If they therefore think that they’ve got a handle on that by March or by early next year, they can call that election for March and hammer him on that but if they think that they can do him a bit more slowly ... they will of course delay it until May,” Ms McGuinness told Sky News Australia. “It has already started Labor off on the backfoot in a way that they have to declare their hand, declare it over Christmas when nobody’s really listening except the engaged political class who can then start strategising over it.”
