Police said a 25-year-old woman and 26-year-old man went swimming off the Esplanade at Surfers Paradise about 10pm and witnesses saw them struggling.
Bystanders were able to help the woman but were unable to get the man, who hasn’t been seen since, back to shore.
A land, sea and air search began…
