We won’t see much ‘detail’ about Labor’s 2030 climate target, says Resources Minister

Resources Minister Keith Pitt says he doesn't expect we'll "see a lot of detail" about Labor's 2030 emissions reduction target.

On Friday the Labor Party committed to cutting emissions by 43 per cent by 2030 if it wins government at the next federal election.

The Coalition has a target of 26-28 per cent emissions reduction by 2030.

"I haven't seen the detail yet, I don't expect we'll see a lot of detail out of Anthony Albanese," Mr Pitt told Sky News Australia.

"Sounds like he drew a number out of a barrel to me.

"I'm not sure there'll be a lot of science behind it but I look forward to seeing how they expect to achieve that, and what the potential cost is for Australia."
