NSW residents head to the polls for local council elections

More than five million New South Wales residents will head to the polls for the state's local council elections today.

The vote has been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thousands have already chosen to cast their ballot through pre-poll voting as part of the government's COVID-safe plans.

The New South Wale's Government encouraged people to vote early to reduce crowds at the polling booths.
