Temperatures are set to hit 40 degrees in Perth in the midst of a week-long heat wave

Temperatures are set to soar even further in Perth over the next three days as the city swelters through one of its hottest early December weeks in almost a century.

Maximum temperatures have stayed above 31 degrees over the past four days, with some suburbs hitting more than 35.
