The only way to change ‘whatever’ McGowan is doing is from ‘within’

The AFR’s Political Editor Phil Coorey says the only way to change whatever WA Premier Mark McGowan is doing is from “within”.

While Queensland prepares to reopen its borders to hotspot states on December 13, Western Australia remains firm they will not open up until the state hits the 90 per cent double dose vaccination target.

“The more anyone criticises WA from outside of WA, the more popular it makes McGowan,” Mr Coorey told Sky News Australia.

“You can’t attack him, you just make him stronger so it will only come from within with Western Australians.”

Mr Coorey said he thinks the view within the federal government is Mr McGowan will remain popular but Western Australians will “yearn for a sense of balance”.
