Australia’s diplomatic boycott will have ‘no impact whatsoever’ on Olympic athletes

Australian Olympic Committee CEO Matt Carroll says be believes Australia’s diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics will have “no impact whatsoever” on athletes. “They're very focused ... a lot of them are still qualifying for the Games so that's a work in progress,” Mr Carroll told Sky News Australia. “They’re getting organised, they're getting prepared, they're concentrating on competing at the Games." He said the committee welcomes the Australian government’s support in helping the team get to the Olympics. “Yes, there's a diplomatic boycott but the Australian government have supported us," he said.
