Gladys Berejiklian retires from politics

Former New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced she is retiring from politics.

She confirmed her decision on Ben Fordham's 2GB radio show this morning.

Ms Berejiklian spoke to the Prime Minister yesterday, declining his offer to contest for the federal seat of Warringah, after weeks of intense lobbying for her to make the switch.

She said she will take a break and is looking forward to a life out of the public eye.
