Government ‘pushing line’ about Independents being a ‘Labor front’

The government has again been pushing the line about the Independents, or so-called "voices of" candidates, being a "Labor front", according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

“A significant development on that front as we reported yesterday is Jo Dyer, a former Labor candidate, announcing as an Independent to run in the South Australian marginal seat of Boothby,” Mr Clennell said.

“With the government holding a slim margin in this seat and Nicolle Flint retiring, Dyer's candidacy could pull some Liberal votes away and push them into Labor in preferences. 

"Liberal federal director Andrew Hirst writing to party members and supporters really getting stuck into this issue.”
