Australia has been ‘blessed with some brilliant ambassadors’ from the US

Former Liberal MP Fiona Scott says Australia has been “blessed with some brilliant ambassadors” from the United States. 

It comes after Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, was nominated as the next US ambassador to Australia. 

Ms Scott told Sky News Australia the appointment of Ms Kennedy was “really important” following the formation of the AUKUS pact between Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.  

“And it’s also one that when you look across the political divide there’s a lot of people even on the conservative side of politics in Australia that very much have a lot of fond memories about the Kennedy era,” she said.  

“But to the Americans, I mean having someone like John Berry before in that role and where he has gone on to even his role at the Glasgow conference with the United States – we have been blessed with some brilliant ambassadors. 

“And once again American’s pulled out the red carpet.”
